We offer our foster carers exceptional fostering support. Our foster carers often comment on the personal approach we offer. You will receive the right fostering support for you, at the right time.
We will be with you every step of the way when you foster through us.
You will be assigned a social worker from our team who will support and supervise you on a 1-2-1 basis. They will guide you through all the training and support you need. The training you receive will be tailored to your needs instead of a one size fits all approach. You will get to know your social worker well as you will always connect with the same social worker.
Your social worker will keep in touch with you on a regular basis. You will be free to contact them Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm. We will keep in touch via home visits, email, telephone calls and even virtual meetings, if that suits you.
As a foster carer you will be expected to attend various meetings, for example with the child’s school, Children’s Hearings and Looked After Child (LAC) Reviews. Your social worker will help you prepare for these meetings and attend them with you.
All our social workers are trained in Theraplay and the SafeBase Parenting Programme and if you foster through us, you too can take advantage of this training.
It is likely that some of the children and young people who you foster would benefit from life story work due to the nature of their experiences before being fostered. Our social workers are also trained in Richard Rose’s Therapeutic Life Story Work and will be able to support you with this.
We are able to take a very thoughtful approach to our placements. We will only place a child or young person with you if we think the match is right.
All our foster carers receive very competitive fees and allowances in recognition of them meeting the often complex needs of children and young people in their care.
Once a year we will be holding a Foster Care Development Day. You can come together with other foster carers to discuss relevant issues in fostering and to ensure we are meeting their needs as foster carers for our service. It’s also a great opportunity to get to know other foster carers.
Each year we hold a summer picnic and a Christmas party for our families. Throughout the year we also hold other events where our foster carers can meet and share advice and experiences with each other such as coffee mornings and pizza nights.
All our foster carers receive free membership to The Fostering Network, the UK’s leading fostering charity. You will receive a wide range of support and discounts through your membership, including:
