Teen Group
Did you know that we hold a monthly Teen Group?
It’s for children and young people aged 12 to 17 (typically P7-S6) and it takes place in our Edinburgh office in Leith on the last Wednesday of the month from 5.30pm to 6.30pm (apart from July, August and December). It’s a relaxed group and we normally just sit around a table, chat and eat food. If this sounds like something your young person would be interested in then please get in touch (contact details below).
It’s a chance for teens to have a chat with other young people who typically may share some similar experiences, but there is no pressure to talk about their experiences. We often speak about school and avoid adoption or fostering conversations, unless they are brought up. It’s also fine if your teen doesn’t want to talk.
We generally include check-ins, team building games and crafts, but normally follow the lead of the attendees. We have an Ooni pizza oven so sometimes we make pizzas and we are very open to suggestions for each Teen Group. A popular suggested activity in the past was making slime, which was messy, but fun!
The adults can enjoy a natter and a cuppa in the waiting area. Parking on John’s Place is free after 5.30pm (excluding Permit Holder and Car Club spaces).
If your child or young person would like to come along to our Teen Group, please speak to your Social Worker or call 0131 454 3370 and ask to speak to the Duty Worker or email info@standrews-children.org.uk.
